Distribution Transformers

Distribution transformers are so named because they distribute low voltage power to the customers who use electricity at the end of the supply grid. These are the transformers that provide the useable power for lighting the stores on Main street, and the factories in the Industrial Park. Because they may be installed in so many locations in large numbers, it is important that they be easy to install, safe, efficient, and trouble-free.

At Marcus Transformer, we offer copper distribution transformers that are compact and incorporate wall mounting brackets or integral floor channels where appropriate for easy installation. Furthermore, to facilitate trouble-free connecting of line and load cables, voltages are clearly indicted on separate terminal boards

Innovative distribution transformers

Our distribution transformers are highly efficient due to our utility grade wound-core construction. The unique oval shape of the Marcus wound core ensures that the flow of magnetic flux is always in the direction of the grain. A conventional transformer with laminations stacked with 90o corners has significantly higher core losses. These so-called no-load losses are present around-the-clock and contribute to higher electricity bills.

The Marcus distribution transformers are built with class 220o materials and designed to operate well below the maximum 150oC temperature rise.We also offer special transformers with 80oC  and 115oC where specified. In order to facilitate the best possible heat transfer, all core and coil assembles are double-dipped in a resin that is non-hygroscopic and then baked to drive out all solvents. This, along with the utilization of anti-vibration isolators in the final assembly process, helps assure a more quiet operation.

If you have any questions about the different types of transformers we offer, or, if you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us during business hours. Marcus employees are always at your service.
